| All the top designers and wrap class instructors across the US are not only using
Photoshop to design, they are telling students they need to ramp up to it if they
want to produce killer designs themselves. Historically, most sign shops have
traditionally relied on signmaking softwares such as Signlab, Flexi, Omega and
others designed primarily for vector based creation and output (think plotters)
These commonly used sign making softwares are great in their own right but tend
to fall short on raster editing, This can limit the creativity and designing ability
the sign shop designer can produce for output on his / her digital vinyl printer.
Most sign shop designers spent such a long time learning their sign making
software, they don't even want to think about using any other program. Those
that do realize they need to be designing for print in Photoshop are often intimidated
by the interface, tool names and functions...it's just so different than anything
they have ever used...they may try but often give up. That's understandable.
With sales calls, deadlines, production, installation and other business related
issues consuming all of your time, there is precious little time left to sit
and learn new software, let alone software as powerful and complex as Photoshop
can seem. |
